The Gray Wolf
Gray Wolves existed all over the place in Minnesota, before people started poisoning them. In 1974, the wolf population was numbered at 750. But Minnesota has always been the most consistent on having a visible wolf population. There are about 2,000 of them left, in only very small patches throught Minnesota.

1.) The gray wolf is a carnivore and its main prey are elk, moose and deer.
2.) They can eat 20 to 30 pounds without feeling sick for 14 days. 3.) Gray wolves travel in packs of four to seven, led by the alpha dogs, the leaders. 4.) Wolf pups are born blind and deaf, but after a few weeks they can see and hear. 5.) Wolves have two layers of fur, an undercoat, and a top coat which can keep them warm at minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit. |
